The IRS sends out a Newswire Newsletter regularly with very helpful tips. #IR-2023-43 is reminder to retirees who turned 72 during 2022 that April 1, 2023 is the last day to receive their first Required Minimum Distribution. In later years you must receive the money by Dec. 31. There is information about IRS Publication 590-8, Appendix B. This publication will help you determine how much you must receive. You divide the amount of your retirement assets as of December 31, 2021 by 27.4. If you are married to someone ten years younger, you use a different table and pay a lower percentage.
