My latest IRS tip email was delivered today. One sentence was very interesting. Alabama, California, and Georgia storm victims now have until May 15 to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments.
You must be living in a county that has been designated a disaster area. About 40 have been so listed. To see said list, go to “Tax Relief for Californians Impacted by the Storms”. This email also states that California will follow the Federal time schedules.
Enjoy your extra time to procrastinate. I still remember fondly the old days before online submission when hundreds of us would be at the Van Nuys Regional Post Office at 11:59 on the due date to file. There was a kind of festive vibe with food trucks and music.
